Alcohol consumption certainly plays a part in many fatal road accidents, and as you can see, the top three deadliest days coincide with traditional times of celebration. Thank goodness it`s the weekend - but that`s not reason to relax when you`re on the roads. The deadliest days to drive are Friday through Sunday, with Saturday coming out on top. There`s clearly a lot of dangerous traffic on the weekends, and it`s safe to say that alcohol plays a part in this tragic trend.

Rushing home from work after a long, stressful day seems to lead to bad driving decisions. The deadliest time to drive is between 3pm and 6pm, a clear indicator of how much care needs to be taken at the end of the day. Interestingly, the early morning rush hour seems to be safer than any other time of day, perhaps a reflection of a fresher, more alert mind.

If you`re a pedestrian, you shouldn`t be walking home from your New Year`s Eve party on January 1st. Besides being one of the top 5 days for crash deaths, it`s Number One for pedestrian deaths. And parents should be advised to watch their kids on Halloween. The drivers are scarier than the ghosts, witches or headless horsemen! Day Number Two for pedestrian deaths, frighteningly, is October 31.

Wear your seat belt, always. In many cases, fatal accidents could have been avoided by passengers and drivers wearing their seat belt.
