How much is car insurance for 60-year-old drivers?

60-year-old male drivers pay $1,727 per year for coverage, while female drivers of the same age pay $1,707 per year. Location and driving record also play a major role in determining insurance rates. Younger drivers face higher car insurance costs because they lack driving experience, but rates go down as they gain driving experience and grow older.

Age is one of the biggest factors in setting car insurance rates, but most states also allow insurers to consider gender. On average, men pay more than women since data shows they take greater risks and are involved in more accidents.

In California, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, auto insurers are not allowed to factor gender into car insurance pricing.
