J.D. Power’s key insights for 2025
In addition to reporting insurance company scores, J.D. Power offers insights into consumer concerns and buying habits.
According to the report, customer satisfaction is at an all-time low, with 38% of insurance customers giving low customer satisfaction scores. This means they’re much less likely to renew.
Stephen Crewdson, managing director of insurance business intelligence at J.D. Power, says in the report that “insurers need to focus on delivering a tailored, seamless customer experience.” That means positive interactions with apps, websites and customer service reps and ease of service when it comes to claims, policy changes and maintenance. All this leads to trust and that leads to more renewals.
Additionally:
- High-value, long-time customers (those with low risk profiles and multiple policies) are at risk of changing insurance companies. The survey found 51% of these loyal customers are planning the renew, lower than other segments.
- Although low rates draw people in, they stay for customer service and a good claims experience.
- The customer experience is driven by a seamless experience across channels.
