Step 2. Decide How Much to Buy
Make sure you're protected. Auto insurance protects you, your passengers and your personal assets. If you rent an apartment, home or condo, and don't have other assets, state minimum limits may be enough. If you can afford more, it's usually worth it. And, if you own a home or have other assets to protect, you definitely need more than minimum limits.
